Book Review: “Tour de Life” From Coma To Competition by Dave Shields

BOOK REVIEW - “TOUR DE LIFE” FROM COMA TO COMPETITION By Dave Shields & Saul Raisin

Tour de Life Book CoverDave Shields does it again. He steals hours a night off my sleep until I can finish his book. And with “Tour de Life” he does not disappoint. This book is impossible to put down until you have read the very last page. I was on the verge of tears many times, as well as cheering out loud for Saul Raisin as he begins to recover.

If you are looking for a hero, then Saul Raisin should be the guy. On the afternoon of April 4, 2006, the twenty three year old pro cyclist Saul Raisin crashed in the Circ de la Sarthe, fell into a coma, and receives life saving brain surgery. By every opinion Saul Raisin should be dead. But through his amazing strength and will to live, he fights not only for his very life, but to try to return to his old self.

And he sets the goal not only to return to racing a bicycle, but to win the Yellow Jersey at the Tour de France. Once you read this book you will have no doubt that Saul Raisin will accomplish each and every goal he has set for himself.

This is one of the most heart felt and motivating books I have ever read. I can without question recommend this book to everyone, whether they are a cyclist or not.
