Review: Smith Reactor Max Sunglasses
As sunglasses go, the market is full of choices. Many are great, most are not. I have been a long time user of all the trendy sunglasses that have come to help the cyclist. Remember the Oakley Factory Pilots? Yeah, what were we thinking? Taking a pair of skiing sunglasses and trying to make them work on the face of a cyclist. All they did was create a greenhouse behind them and make you sweat buckets. They even had to add a foam forehead band to keep the steady stream of sweat out of your eyes.
After wearing my Rudy Projects Kerosene sunglasses for the last 2 years I decided to try a different pair of sunglasses. My search lead me to the Smith Reactor Max. They are priced a little lower than their competition which, well, caught me eye. The frames are not only nice looking, but they fit really well. They have not fogged up on my yet (my Rudy Projects fog on me 1 out of every 4 rides). They are easy to adjust to your face and make for a comfortable wear.
The Smith’s are light weight, and they have excellent photochromic lenses. The photochromic features will add hours to the day. Silver Halide Crystal technology Smith Action Optics Photochromic polarized lenses responds to varying light conditions by adjusting the density of the lens tint. Bright conditions cause the lens to darken, while lower light allow the lens to lighten.
They have UVA/UVB protection also. They come with extra lenses depending on the frame color (which there are 5). The different lenses allow you to use these glasses in all weather condition. I have used the and I like the platinum and ignitor lenses.
With a retail price of $109.00 to $139.00 you can not go wrong with the Smith Reactor sunglasses.
