Vinokourov Tests Positive - Astana Withdrawls From The TOUR

I think that David Millar said it best. “Jesus Christ - there you go, that’s my quote,” he blurted out. “What timing, huh? This is just f…ing great.” Millar broke down into tears when he was asked by British journalist Jeremy Whittle if he was all right, saying, “I just feel like crying right now.”

Just Yesterday I was writing how much I respected and considered Vino a cycling superhero. Boy, it is amazing how much can change in one day. Vinokourov test positive for blood doping, and Astana pulls out of the 2007 Tour de France. It appears that they took the position that if one of the Astana riders cheat, we all cheat. I feel cheated.

If true, this is a very sad day for cycling. It is not that cycling is alone with scandals. You have Barry Bonds (and Sosa, McGuire, etc..) in Baseball, you have Michael Vick (as well as many more) in football, the NBA has their own ref betting scandal, the list can go on for ever. Just trying to keep things in perspective.
