Alberto Contador Comments After The Team Time Trial At The Tour of Spain
“The time differences are small and not so important”
Alberto Contador crossed the finish line as first rider of the Astana Team, losing 14 seconds to the winner of the first stage. The differences, in his opinion, are not significant.
“This first stage has been a beautiful show and the team gave everything. I am happy to see that. Everything has gone well, because regarding to the other favorites, Sastre and Valverde, the differences are so small that we don’t have to give them importance.”
Contador said that the team started to give everything, but without taking risks in the curves. The main thing was not to fall. “What has been incredible is the public’s answer. There was a big crowd and I am happy about that. I would also like to thank the public of Granada for their welcome. I am completely impressed by people’s affection and I believe that we have recovered the atmosphere of the races of years ago, with a great expectation of the fans.”
