Congratulations to the men and women of the Colavita/Sutter Home Cycling Teams presented by Cooking Light! In USA Cycling’s latest rankings, Colavita/Sutter Home’s Anthony Colby and Luis Amaran rank 4th and 5th, respectively, in the men’s individual standings and Tina Pic ranks second among the women. In the team rankings, the men’s squad is #2 and the women are #3.
The winning momentum continues for the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Team with three consecutive victories in team sponsor Giordana’s 8th Annual Cross Roads Cycling Classic in North Carolina. Alejandro Borrajo rode to back-to-back wins in criteriums on July 29th in Mocksville, NC and July 30th in Concord, NC, where teammate Luis Amaran took second. Luca Damiani and Davide Frattini put an Italian stamp on the Salisbury Criterium on July 31st, finishing first and second, respectively. Alejandro, Luis, Luca, and Davide will be joined by Gustavo Artacho, fresh from his victory at the Mt. Holly-Smithville Grand Prix, and Fitchburg Longsjo GC winner Kyle Wamsley as NRC racing continues this weekend with the Presbyterian Hospital Invitational Criterium on August 2nd and the Hanes Park Classic on August 3rd.
Five-time US National Criterium Champion Tina Pic will lead the women’s squad as she returns to defend her titles in the Presbyterian Hospital Invitational and the Hanes Park Classic. Tina, who won the Southeast’s US Speed Week Criterium Series earlier this season, can count on strong support from Iona Wynter Parks, who finished 2nd in last week’s Tour de Toona criterium, Shontell Gauthier, winner of the 2008 Kelly Cup and a top 10 finisher in the 2007 Presbyterian Hospital Criterium, Sea Otter winner Tiffany Cromwell, Nichole Wangsgard, who’s made numerous podium appearances in criteriums throughout the season, and Andrea Dvorak.
