Cyclocross Season Is Upon Us - Coryn Rivera

October 5th marked my first Socal Cross race of the year. 2 weeks ago I flew up to Washington with 1 week of training under the belt and that didnt go as great as I hoped for. But the training is going well and I was excited to start PsychoCross with a bang. I first and foremost pre-rode the course a few times with both my bikes, then did the usual warm up routine. At the line I was pumping with adrenaline waiting for the whistle. There was about 20+ women on the line with me, which is a pretty good turn out for the women out here. When it went off I got beat to the first corner by Tonya Bray and Kendall Ryan. After the barriers I managed to get behind Tonya. And at the bottle of the treacherous downhill I made my move and attacked the pack. Following me was Kendall Ryan. I at top of the run up Kendall took the lead smooth and strong. Then at a slow corner I attacked again out of it and got a good gap. I just hammered on from there for another 40 minutes and that led me to my first cross win of the season, with Carolyn Popovic in 2nd and Dot Wong in 3rd. It was an awesome race and a good workout. I was really happy to see a lot of ladies out there having a ball racing the good ole cyclocross bikes.
