Doping Doctor Sainz Set For Appeal Hearing
PARIS, Oct 31, 2008 (AFP) - Frenchman Bernard Sainz has been told he will
have to wait until April 2009 before an appeal against a custodial sentence
for providing banned substances to cyclists will be heard in court.
Sainz, known ominously in the cycling peloton as ‘Doctor Mabuse’, is
currently serving an 18-month prison sentence after being found guilty of
administering doping products and working illegally as a doctor.
On Friday the court of appeal which is to hear his plea for a lighter
sentence set his hearing date for April 9, 2009.
