Jeremy Hunt of Credit Agricole takes second stage in Malaysia’s Tour de Langkawi

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Feb 10, 2008 (AFP) - Britain’s Jeremy Hunt of team
Credit Agricole won the second stage of the Malaysian Tour de Langkawi cycling
race on Sunday but Frenchman Matthieu Sprick retained the leader’s yellow
jersey.
Day two of Asia’s biggest road race flagged off from Butterworth in the
northern state of Penang and ended almost four hours later in Sitiawan in
western Perak state, traversing largely flat terrain in fierce tropical heat.
Hunt finished the 159.7-kilometre (100-mile) course in 3 hours 34 minutes
and 36 seconds, while Italian Matteo Priamo from Group-Navigare and Spain’s
Gustavo Cesar of Karpin Galicia were second and third.
Bouygues Telecom rider Sprick remains in the overall lead after finishing
the race six seconds later placed 36th.
Stage three of the nine-stage tour continues Monday from Sitiawan to
Banting, covering 209.4 kilometres, the longest stage in the tour.
Tour de Langkawi ends on February 17 in the capital Kuala Lumpur.
