Perez triumphs in sixth stage of Tour de Langkawi

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14, 2008 (AFP) - Jose Serpa Perez of Colombia won the
sixth stage of Malaysia’s Tour de Langkawi on Thursday but France’s Matthieu
Sprick retained the leader’s yellow jersey.
Day six of Asia’s biggest road race started from Bandar Penawar in southern
Johor state and finished at Kuala Rompin in central Pahang state, covering
182.8 kilometres (114 miles).
Team Serramenti’s Perez completed the race in 4 hours 26 minutes and 43
seconds, while Belarus’ Alexandre Usov of La Mondiale was second and
Australia’s Johnnie Walker third.
However, Bouygues Telecom rider Sprick remains in the overall lead despite
finishing 36th in the stage.
Stage seven on Friday will take place in Pahang state and cover 126.6
kilometres.
The Tour de Langkawi ends on Sunday in the capital Kuala Lumpur.
