Savini takes stage eight of Tour de Langkawi
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16, 2008 (AFP) - Filippo Savini took stage eight of Malaysia’s Tour de Langkawi on Saturday, while Moldova’s Ruslan Ivanov emerged as the new overall leader.
Ivanov was on the heels of the Italian during the stage, with Colombia’s Jose Serpa Perez taking third place.
Stage eight of Asia’s biggest race was from Temerloh to Bukit Fraser in central Pahang state, covering 127 kilometres (79 miles).
France’s Matthieu Sprick, who had previously worn the yellow jersey, was eighth, leaving him in second overall.
Sunday’s ninth and final stage — the Kuala Lumpur Criterium — will take the racers 80.4 kilometres through the streets of the capital.
