Schumacher Remains in Top Form

This Tour has been unpredictable since the start and that trend continued today in Cholet with the first individual time trial. While awaiting the duel between Alejandro Valverde or Cadel Evans in the race of truth, it was Stefan Schumacher who leapt out of the pack with an incredible time trial performance.
Schumacher is coming off a second-place finish in the recent German time trial championships and was obviously in fine form, but he did surprise most onlookers with the best time at all of the time checks as well as at the finish line.
Almost everyone else performed as we expected them to, though Evans rode a very sensible race after starting slowly before speeding up toward the end. He was tenth at the first time check prior to moving up to a fourth place finish.
