BERLIN, Sept 11, 2008 (AFP) – Germany’s Stefan Schumacher, who won both time trial stages of this year’s Tour de France, has signed a two-year contract to ride for Quick Step next season, it was announced on Thursday.

With his previous team Gerolsteiner set to disband at the end of the year, the 27-year-old, who won a bronze medal winner at the world road race championships in Stuttgart last year, is delighted to sign for the Belgium-based outfit.

“I’m looking forward to be part of this world class team,” said Schumacher on the Quick Step website.
