New tech for 2009. After churning through all the bike shows: be dazzled by white and ceramic everything, only a few items stand out once the dust settles:

HERE IS OUR TOP 8:

1. Mavic’s entry into the shoe market is just fantastic. the weight of a pair of socks and a stiff, stiff, stiff sole.. rotating weight reduction , ie wheels, tyres cranks, is money well spent.

2. You have seen it every where: but the 11 super Record rear mech , never fails . Die hard Shimano men wept by its carbontastic vision. The finest example of bike engineering in 2009. Santa please, please I have been a resonablely good boy!

3, Easton’s new fork column. the carbon sterrer tube itself has an internal thread for tension adjustment.No more star fangled nuts and terrible rubber stoppers. easy , smart simple. (shown on Cube
‘lightening’)

4, World MTB champion Christoph Sauser rides an American made EPIC.
Four inches of smart travel and only 20lb. The weight of a tour road bike in 1996!

5, The back end on the Colnago time trial offering for 2009 was sublime. Looking nearly as aero as the industry leader Cervelo, but with twice the ‘wow’ factor. Save up!

6. There are not many concept bikes that are worth more than a second look. Cannondale have been busy. this works, looks good and it works .A rare factor for concept bikes. Top marks!

7. Van Nicolas Zepher. Top Grade Titanium at an affordable price. Soooo well made.

8, I would never use it, it’s not as quick as a conventional bike, but who wouldnt love one hanging in the garage. The Moulton Race chrome.
