At last the hot sun in the South of France and in the end in the Roman city of Nimes, one of the fresh young faces of the Tour de France won again. Mark Cavendish really is the fastest finisher in the world at this moment and to watch him is nothing short of spectacular.
Add to this a modest youngster who runs immediately to thank every one of his team individually, then you have the pleasure of feeling you have seen someone special.
Four stage wins - a British record in the same Tour - and the possibility of more keeps us sane on this Tour. The dopers are being caught and Riccardo Ricco’s treatment at the police station should be a warning to others as he must surely regret his actions.
