Ricco, Doping Take Center Stage

The theme of doping reared its ugly head once again in the 2008 TDF. The difference between Manuel Beltran and Moises Duenas was that this time, it involved a big star of the sport and a double-stage winner at the Tour. Riccardo Ricco has perpetrated a despicable and egregious fraud against his teammates his sponsor the TDF but, most importantly, the fans.
In the commentary position, it was a thrill to watch Ricco dance away from his rivals on Super-Besse and Bagneres-de-Bigorre. Ricco himself has been one of the most vociferous climbers at professing his prowess and making no secret about his affinity and affection for another great climber, Marco Pantani.
