Sprint Lifts Burghardt

Panic on the streets of Bourg-d’Oisans today. First of all, the Little Prince, Damiano Cunego, crashed hard in the opening kilometer. It took him almost 10 minutes to get on his bicycle again after receiving stitches to his chin. It was real testament to the team spirit of Lampre, who sent three men back from the peloton to help Cunego throughout the day.

While the drama was unfolding behind, two men escaped – Marcus Burghardt and Carlos Barredo. Because today was not a GC day, the peloton allowed them a lead of 10 minutes throughout.
