Chaos Rules Stage 3

Stage 3 in the 2008 Tour de France on paper looked like another yawner that we see in the flat stages of the Tour. The normal format being: breakaway takes off, peloton chases, breakaway gets caught, sprinter wins.
Well, today we had one of the most exciting stages because, apparently William Frischkorn, who is in his first Tour, did not stick with protocol. Hence, the script was completely re-written by the rider on the Garmin-Chipotle Team.
A group escaped and then as the peloton split in the finale, the riders in the breakaway sprinted for the stage win and the yellow jersey. In the end, Frischkorn made a couple of tactical blunders, probably more because of inexperience rather than tactical acumen.

As happens way to much in the Tour de France a group of riders hit a center divider. Take a look at the bent road sign. that had got to hurt.
