Surprises Continue in Tour’s “New Era”

As the French were finally treated to a day of bright sunshine after a few days of cold and miserable conditions, the surprises continued on today’s stage of the Tour de France.
The winner, no surprise, was Mark Cavendish, the fastest man in world wide cycling today. What was surprising, however, in the remnants of the breakaway, is that Nicolas Vogondy was only caught about 20 yards from the finish line. Normally, we would see the breakaway swept up a long time before that – at least 5 km. Having only a 30-second advantage with 10km to go……it’s a brand new era in cycling and adjustments will have to be made. This may be the most talented field the Tour has seen since Lance Armstrong’s heyday.
