It was not a very pleasant day to restart the Tour de France and it was made worse overnight with the news that Manual Beltran, once a trusted teammate of Lance Armstrong, had given a positive dope test for EPO on the first stage a week ago. This happens just when we thought the battle was being won.
I still believe it is and as Beltran leaves our sporting lives forever, we can look to people like young Mark Cavendish to provide us with the entertainment of the future.
His win in Toulouse was breathtaking and he is such a modest character that you really want to enjoy his riding ability. His youth and enthusiasm is so refreshing.
