Toyota-United Finishes 5th Place in Team Time Trial of the Tour de Georgia Presented by AT & T

Toyota-United top domestic team on the day

Los Angeles, CA – The Toyota-United Pro Cycling Team bolstered its claim today as the premier professional cycling team in America by finishing 5th place in Stage 4 of the Tour de Georgia Presented by AT & T. Today’s stage was a unique race in that each of the fifteen eight-man teams raced head to head over a distance of 10 miles around the famous Road Atlanta course in Braselton, GA. The course was a hilly, twisty 2.5 mile, 12 turn track with two-minute gaps separating each team as they covered four laps of the course. Team Slipstream won in a time of 19:36, a mere 23 seconds faster than Toyota-United which posted the fastest final lap of all teams with a 4:52, its fastest lap of all four laps.

“I’m really proud of the way the team is riding this Tour. To only be beat today by arguably three of the top four teams in the world and by a mere 23 seconds is a true testament to how determined and strong our team is.” said Team Owner Sean Tucker.
“We were the only team today to run negative splits on all four laps with our last lap being the fastest. Had Ben Day not crashed yesterday and hurt his back, I think we would have claimed third place ahead of Team CSC since they were only 10 seconds faster than us. But then again, that’s bike racing.” said Team Director Len Pettyjohn.

Tomorrow’s stage 5 is the longest of the week as the riders will race 133.4 miles from Suwanee to Dahlonega with three climbs to test the riders up hill.
