UCI Is Going To Sue Ex-WADA President Dick Pound
PARIS, March 21, 2008 (AFP) - The International Cycling Union (UCI) is to sue former World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) president Dick Pound for “continual injurious and biased comments” against the world cycling’s ruling body and its ex-president Hein Verbruggen.
“On many occasions Mr Pound has publicly questioned the extent of the UCI’s efforts in the fight against doping,” said UCI in a statement released on Thursday, adding that the case would be heard in Swiss courts.
Pound, also a former International Olympic Committee vice-president, stepped down from his WADA post in November after seeing out the maximum two terms in office.
