Aleksejs Saramotins Took A Surprising Win In Münsterland Giro

[03.10 17:19] Team Saxo Bank today took part of the 200 kilometer long German one-day-race, Münsterland Giro with a strong team of six riders: Matti Breschel, Karsten Kroon, Kurt-Asle Arvesen, Lasse Bøchman, Anders Lund and Chris Anker Sørensen. The latter won the mountain competition of the race in 2007.

Five riders managed to escape along the way.

Thierry Hupont (Team Skil-Shimano), Wouter Mol (Team Vacansoleil), Dirk Müller (Team Sparkasse-Nutrixxion) Jean Zen (Team Palmans), Alexey Saramotins (Team Designa Køkken).

The quintet was never caught and in the final, Aleksejs Saramotins (Team Designa Køkken) launched a deadly attack that kept his followers behind and he crossed the line alone and he took a huge win for the small Danish team.

”Five riders made an early escape in the race and we for once chose to leave the responsibility of catching group to other teams. Unfortunately, we never caught up with the quintet and I must say that Saramotins demonstrated impressive power and will in the final. Now we are looking forward to the last and bigger challenges of the season, for instance next week’s Paris-Tour”, said sports director Kim Andersen after the race.
