Brits Stay On Track In World Cup

PARIS, Feb 14, 2009 (AFP) – Britain’s Olympic champion sprint team warmed
up for next month’s world championships in Poland by claiming gold in the
final of the World Cup event in Copenhagen.

British trio Jamie Staff, Jason Kenny and Chris Hoy, Olympic champions in
Beijing but this time representing the Sky team, beat a France team composed
of Cofidis riders Mickael Bourgain, Kevin Sireau and Francois Pervis on Friday.

Britain’s reigning Olympic champion Victoria Pendleton beat Frenchwoman
Clara Sanchez in the women’s sprint final while American Taylor Phinney won
the men’s individual pursuit ahead of Ireland’s David O’Loughlin.
