Sebastian Haedo Captures Bunch Sprint in Stage Two Ahead of Race Leader Levi Leipheimer
Linden, NJ (May 1, 2009) — Sebastian Haedo secured a big win for the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light at the second stage of the Tour of the Gila on April 30th in Silver City, New Mexico. Before throngs of spectators cheering for the peloton that included seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong in his first post-surgery event and his Astana teammates, three-time Tour de France winner Levi Leipheimer, and Chris Horner, Seba captured the bunch sprint after more than 5,000 feet of climbing.
Colavita/Sutter Home’s eight-man squad, which also includes Tyler Wren, Luis Amaran, Davide Frattini, Andy Guptill, Anthony Colby, Dan Vaillancourt, and Anibal Borrajo, continues to lead in the overall team classification. Racing continues through May 3, culminating with the 170-mile Gila Monster Road Race where Anthony Colby was among the podium finishers in last year’s edition.
Seba’s victory at the Tour of the Gila’s Inner Loop Road Race is his second win this season. He finished first in the road race of the UCI-ranked Tour of San Luis and earlier this week captured third in the newest addition to the NRC calendar, the Dana Point Grand Prix.
