Jani Brajkovic Slovenian Champion Time Trial

Team Astana’s Jani Brajkovic took the golden medal on the national championships time trial. Brajkovic (25) was the fastest rider on the circuit of Solkan. Gregor Gazvoda was second, Kristjan Koren third.

In his fifth year as a professional rider, Jani Brajkovic took his first gold in the event. “Simply because I never participated before”, explains the time trial specialist who was world champion U23 in the discipline in 2004 in Verona and three-time military world champion (2005, 2006, 2008).

“It was a pretty flat course but with sections hard enough to disturb the rhythm. It was hard, but I felt strong. I still have my Tour of Italy condition. At the end of the first lap, I caught Gazvoda. A bit further the same happened with Koren. They took some advantage of my presence. Normally my advantage on the numbers two and three should have been bigger.”

The next race for Jani Brajkovic, not selected for the Tour de France (*), will be the road championship on Sunday. “I will try to do my best in the road race as well, but that will be harder without any teammates. My non-selection for the Tour? It is a pity that I cannot show there the good form I have, but I am not disappointed. The selection made by the directors makes sense.”
The Slovenian Road Championship will be held on Sunday, June 28th, in Mirna Pe?.
