Jens Voigt Winner of Criterium International

[29.03 16:26] Team Saxo Bank veteran German Jens Voigt won today the annual Criterium International for the fifth time in his career after a fifth place on the final time trial of eight kilometres.
It was, however, the favorite, Tony Martin from Team Columbia, who won the race against the clock in 10.05 minutes. He only distanced the German power plant with eighteen seconds and it was not enough to topple Team Saxo Bank-rider off the podium.

Jens Voigt also won the climber’s and point classification and Team Saxo underlined their strength by winning the team competition as well.

It all went a lot smoother than expected today, and I am so impressed that he twice in one day can pull him sef up to what he did today”, a relieved sports director said after the race, where Jens Voigt won everything but the youth competition.
And the Danish sports director continued:” It was, however, a little bit too exciting at the end as I knew he had to beat our team’s specialist in the disciplin, Gustav Larsson, and Jens was continously on the edge of losing and winning by very few seconds during the whole time trial”.
