@lancearmstrong: Good morning Dublin. Who wants to ride this afternoon? I do. 5:30pm at the roundabout of Fountain Road and Chesterfield Avenue. See you there.
When Lance Armstrong TWEETS people listen. So when Armstrong put out the Tweet you read above, well over 1000 fans took him up on his offer.
At 5:30pm on Tuesday night over a 1000 riders came to Dublin’s Phoenix Park to ride with their hero. They came from everywhere to ride with Lance, and Lance did not let them down. He rode the Kyber Pass, which is a course that is use frequently for summer time races, while taking the time to talk and ride with his fans. There were no shortage of cameras present either.
“I thought maybe there would be 50, or 60 people. But this is amazing,” Armstrong said mid-ride. “I did this in Glasgow last week and as soon as I arrived at the airport the police wanted to know what I was planning. I told them I didn’t know, which I didn’t. Here, the Gardai have been great, the roads are closed off. It’s a fantastic circuit.”
One thing is for sure. Lance Armstrong is a master of marketing. Well done Lance Armstrong.
