American Lance Armstrong said Tuesday he was subjected to his 24th anti-doping control since August 2008, a month before he officially announced his comeback to professional road cycling.

The seven-time Tour de France winner is training in Nice ahead of this weekend’s Milan-San Remo race, the opening one-day classic of the season and one of only five one-day ‘monuments’ on cycling’s historic calendar.

The 37-year-old Armstrong, communicating by Twitter, said in a posted message that he received a visit by French anti-doping authorities who took urine, blood and hair samples.

Armstrong, the yellow jersey champion from 1999-2005, added in the message it was the 24th anti-doping control since his decision to return to the peloton after a three-and-a-half year hiatus.
