Micahel Ball Makes Statement About Rock Racing Future

We all the internet rumors about the demise of the Rock Racing Professional Cycling Team it appears that owner Michael Ball felt compelled to address them. Below is the official statement released by the Rock Racing Camp.

Michael Ball Statement:
Rumors of Rock Racing’s untimely demise have been greatly exaggerated. The team is proceeding with a full racing schedule of domestic racing in 2009 and is actively pursuing any and all opportunities related to racing outside the United States. I am committed to my team and my riders are committed to making Rock Racing one of the most exciting teams in the pro peloton. Our key riders will all be returning and will be ready to compete against the world’s best. We thank our fans for their continued support of Rock Racing. ?

Regarding recent comments by Baden Cooke:?
Baden Cooke did what he felt was in the best interest of his career and I wish him all the best. There was no malice there.

At Bicycle.net we try very hard not to get involved in the politics of cycling and instead try focus on the news and excitement of cycling. But it is hard to ignore the rumors swirling around Rock Racing and have been guilty of reporting on a few. At this point we do not know what is truth and what is rumor, but we continue to hope that all the riders at Rock Racing get a fair shake, and the opportunity to compete at their best, at the best races. One thing is for sure, love em or hate em, Rock Racing has certainly received their share of press.

  1. Nice to read that all is ok at Rock..we we are told. So riddle me this Batman? Can someone then explain what happened at the Bay Classic in Melbourne Australia recently. The RR team had to looked after and catered for at the event by another team because RR had no team tent or facilities for their own use. The riders looked like they we dumped to each day’s events. At one stage, the RR team was asked to return their minivan because the race organizer needed it; no cashed up team would appear like this. And this is a team that is said to be the new force in cycling…please…go tell someone who believes you.

  2. One more thing. How many teams black out former sponsors on their kit? A close look at the RR jersey at the Bay Classic highlighted that they had spray painted out the name of their bike sponsor. It looked tacky and was a very poor representation of a wonderful looking kit. A pro team would have done the right thing – had new kit created for the event. Mr Ball – come out and tell us the truth. We can handle it; seriously, we can.
