Like last year, the 4000 meter squad on the track was today voted for Rider of the Year by Cycling World´s readers. The 4000 meter squad with Team Saxo Bank riders, Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv have had a fantastic season in which he they have demonstrated their enormous potential.

The title as World Champions was won convincingly 27th of March 2009 in front of the Australian squad in 3:58.246 minutes and now, all cycling fans can focus on looking forward to the 2010 World Cup on home ground in Ballerup Super Arena, Denmark.

“It’s great to receive this award as a recognition of the hard work that has been done in order to get this far. At the same time we were nominated along with our own strong teammates – Matti, Jakob and Nicki who have made fantastic achievements this year and their results certainly don’t make it less honorable to receive this title”, says Alex Rasmussen shortly after the award ceremony.

The other riders on the squad are Casper Jørgensen, Jens-Erik Madsen and Michael Færk Christensen.
