MAGNUS BACKSTEDT’S NEW DEVELOPMENT TEAM JOIN BIKE PURE ANTI-DOPING GROUP
Magnus Backstedt has requested that his new development squad
Cyclesport.Se-Magnus Maximus Coffee.Com be added to Bike Pure’s list of
teams. Magnus along with Martn Crossan are joint director sportifs for the
new team.
Backstedt recently set up the team – comprising seven Swedes and one British
rider who are looking to transfer from the elite amateur ranks to
professional cycling. Former Paris-Roubaix and Tour de France stage winner
Backstedt retired from pro racing in February of this year citing a desire
to focus on managing his new developmental cycling team. Backstedt said he
will also continue as a consultant with his former Garmin-Slipstream team.
The Swede had struggled with a number of health issues during his career,
including a serious knee injury, melanoma, and a separated shoulder and
broken collarbone.
In a statement to Bike Pure Martin Crossan said “There is a change in
cycling that is evident. But it needs a collective committed effort to
ensure that these changes are long term. We are committed to educating and
producing the next generation of professional cyclists, dedicated to a new
cleaner future of our sport and Bike Pure is part of that process.”
We would like to thank Martin and Magnus for their teams involvement in Bike
Pure and we feel its excellent to see another young aspiring team sign up to
Bike Pure’s anti-doping values and sends out a good signal to other teams.
