Albasini Stays On Top In Tour of Britain

LONDON, Sept 16, 2010 (AFP) – Swiss rider Michael Albasini remained on top of the overall classification in the Tour of Britain Thursday as German teammate Andre Greipel claimed his second success on the race.

Greipel, who rides for the HTC-Columbia team, took out a bunch sprint after the 189 km-long sixth stage, the longest of the race, from King’s Lynn to Great Yarmouth on England’s east coast.

Albasini finished in the pack as Borut Bozic took just two seconds out of his lead, with the Swiss a healthy one minute and 26 seconds in front in an event where Australia’s Richie Porte is still in contention.

The race finishes in London on Saturday.
