Australia’s Michael Rogers wins in Spain

MADRID, Feb 25, 2010 (AFP) – Australian cyclist Michael Rogers (HTC-Columbia) won the 56th Tour of Andulucia on Thursday after finishing third in the event’s fifth and final stage.

Rogers finished two seconds behind stage winner Spain’s Francisco Ventoso, who covered the 161-kilometer (110-mile) course in 4hr 20min 05sec.

The Australian’s overall time for the event was 18hr 12min 16sec.

Rogers’s compatriot Simon Gerrans of Team Sky finished in second place for the stage behind Carmiooro rider Ventoso.
