We’re pretty low budget over here and the cost of running a pro team is a little beyond our reach. Paying 25 rider’s salaries, the team cars, trucks, hotels and travel, not to mention the cost of doping products these days… anyway, you get the picture. It’s all just a little too expensive for a little company like Ritte.
So instead of fielding a whole team of pros, we’ve got one guy named Stratton who literally races for peanuts. Well, peanuts, hair pomade and old copies of Teen Beat Asia. Stratton’s been in Belgium for the semi-semi classics, like Dwars door Nieusblad, Het Vlaanderen and of course, the great Ronde Van Volk. And he’s been doing pretty good. Frankly the crew over there is pretty much dead-set against winning without style. Once Stratton actually pulled out of a race because he had a chain mark on his calf.
Anyway, we’ve got a small crew of guys over there as support staff and they’ve been sending us video segments documenting their races. We’re calling these webisodes, Behind the Peloton.
