BMC Challenges The Hell of the North With The Teammachine SLR01

It is happening next Sunday – the BMC Racing Team starts at the legendary classic Paris- Roubaix – and this with the new teammachine SLR01. It is not by chance that George Hincapie, Marcus Burghardt and their team-mates trust on the properties of the SLR01 to overcome the 27 cobblestone sections of the classic Paris-Roubaix. Thanks to the Tuned Compliance Concept (TCC) the teammachine is the perfect weapon for the BMC Racing Teams to challenge the Hell of the North.

BMC presented the new teammachine SLR01 already in September 2009 at the Eurobike in Friedrichshafen. After last weekends Tour of Flanders, it will be time next Sunday, April 11th for the second baptism of fire of the teammachine in the legendary classic Paris-Roubaix.

It is no wonder that the BMC Racing Team trust on the state of the art technology of Grenchen just at the probably most difficult classic in the world. The teammachine SLR01 is perfectly built for this kind of rough terrain with countless cobblestone sections. „Despite the very good stiffness, the teammachine is a very comfortable bike. The bike felt absolute fantastic during the Tour of Flanders and was easy driving in the cobblestone sections. That’s exactly what I expect for Paris-Roubaix“, said George Hincapie, the reigning American champion.

BMC’s tuned compliance concept (TCC) optimises overall ride quality through carefully selected combinations of shapes and materials. Applying stepped profiles, specific carbon fibre alignments and different material compositions in key areas of our frames, forks and seat posts enables us to increase desirable vertical compliance while maintaining high levels of lateral and torsional stiffness. TCC improves the cycling experience by simultaneously providing precise control, reduced rider fatigue, confidence-inspiring handling and efficient power transfer.

These facts give Hincapie a good confidence: “Although changing the bike midway through the season is not ideal, I had no problems to get accustomed to the new teammachine. I felt immediately comfortable.“ In fact, the teammachine SLR01 makes the impossible possible: despite the high level of comfort due to the vertical compliance, a maximum stiffness is ensured even at maximum duty as experienced at Paris-Roubaix.

Good luck!
