The BMC Racing Team will field a roster for Sunday’s Tour of Flanders that includes four riders who have scored top 10 finishes at the Belgian Classic the past five years.
Course Is Much Harder
The BMC Racing Team’s line-up for the 262 km race includes 2007 winner Alessandro Ballan, who was also fourth here in 2008, fifth in 2006 and sixth in 2005. George Hincapie was third in 2006, fifth in 2008 and seventh in 2005. Marcus Burghardt finished seventh here last year and Karsten Kroon was eighth in 2006. Director Sportif John Lelangue said having no pre-determined leader is better on a course will be much harder this year. It’s always good to have four guys who are contenders,” he said. “We can play different cards. We don’t have to put everything on one leader. We have to take advantage of the numbers and maintain some of those numbers to keep the group together for the final.”
