Belgian Tom Boonen won the fifth stage of the Tour of Qatar cycle race on Thursday, while Dutchman Wouter Mol held on to the leader’s yellow jersey.

It was the second stage success so far for Boonen, who edged out Italian Danilo Napolitano and Norwegian Edvald Boasson in the final sprint at the close of the 142 kilometres run from Lusail to Madinat Al Shamal.
