Linden, NJ (July 16, 2010) – Cath Cheatley, ranked #1 in USA Cycling’s NRC individual rider standings, will lead the Colavita/Baci Women’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light at the 2010 BMC Cascade Cycling Classic. Located in central Oregon, the race begins July 20 and continues through July 25.
Cheatley extended her NRC lead with a second place finish at Michigan’s Grand Cycling Classic. “Cath is having a phenomenal season,” said Colavita/Baci Co-Directeur Sportif Tina Pic. “With her overall win at the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic earlier this month, we expect frequent podium appearances for Cath at Cascade.”
Colavita/Baci has assembled a formidable squad for the BMC Cascade Cycling Classic. Joining Cheatley at the starting line will be Theresa Cliff-Ryan, who recently returned from Italy, where as a member of the US National Team, she helped make history with the first overall victory for an American rider at the Giro Donne. Kelly Benjamin and New Zealand National Criterium Champion Rushlee Buchanan will contribute their sprinting power with support from Andrea Dvorak and Modesta Vzesniauskaite.
“Adding to the tremendous talent in our squad, we’re pleased that Amber Rais and Kristin Sanders will be riding in Colavita/Baci colors,” said Co-Directeur Sportif Rachel Heal. “Both riders have great experience at Cascade. Kristin won the stage two mountain top finish in the 2008 edition and Amber finished second overall last year.”
