Fabian Cancellara Wins Tour Of Oman

Today, Team Saxo Bank’s Fabian Cancellara showed off his amazing power engine as he finished second on the final stage of Tour of Oman and took the overall victory of the race. The Norwegian talent, Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Sky) won the stage.

Sixteen seconds separated the strong Swiss from the leader’s jersey before taking on the time trial but with an amazing power discharge from the World and Olympic time trial champion who was out of training in january because of illness, he succeded in closing the gap to the former leader, Daniele Bennati (Liquigas).

”As both Olympic and World time trial champion, the pressure was naturally on my shoulders today. The time trial was harder than many others I have done as I was unable to train for ten days in January because of illness and I am really not in the peak shape right now. The overall victory here in Oman is the culmination upon fourteen days in both Qatar and Oman where we have been very active on each and every stage, we have been working very well together and the victory is not just mine. It goes to the team as well. In many ways, it has been a pleasure riding in Oman where no race was done before. Professionally, I have been riding a lot of important race kilometers in nice weather conditions far away from the snow. Personally, I have discovered a culture I probably wouldn’t have experienced if I wasn’t a professional rider. The race has been well-organized, the roads have been safe and the people of both Qatar and Oman are very friendly and open-minded”, concluded a happy Fabian Cancellara who is taking both the overall win of the race and a lot of new experiences back to Europe.

Fabian Cancellara won the race 28 seconds ahead of Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Sky).
