Fairly Wins Battenkill, Takes Early U.S. Pro Tour Lead

The USA Cycling Professional Tour kicked off its fourth season with the Tour of the Battenkill in Cambridge, N.Y. on Sunday, April 18.

The UCI 2.1-rated contest opened the only U.S. cycling calendar comprised solely of professional racers and teams. Caleb Fairly (Colorado Springs, Colo./Holowesko Partners) rode to victory ahead of Floyd Landis (Murietta, Calif./Bahati Foundation) and Jay Robert Thompson (RSA/Fly V Australia) in the muddy, 200-kilometer affair.

With the first of nine events on the USA Cycling Professional Tour now complete, Fairly has taken the early lead in the individual standings with 40 points, compared to the 30 points collected by Floyd Landis and the 16 garnered by Jay Robert Thompson. In the team standings, Holowesko Partners is on top with 46 points while Bahati Foundation is in second with 30 points.
