The family of former cyclist Laurent Fignon, who died on Tuesday from cancer and who will be buried Friday at the Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, is supporting the Institute of Brain and Spinal cord injury (MHI).

“After the sudden death of Laurent Fignon, a large number of people wished to demonstrate its commitment to the cycling champion. To meet this demand, his family has requested that instead of flowers and wreaths, people who wanted make a donation to the Institute for Brain and Spinal Cord, “said the Fignon family in a statement.

“ICM is a private research foundation of public utility which aims to support research on the brain and spinal cord.
The Foundation co-founded by Professor Gerard Saillant (President of ICM), longtime friend of Laurent Fignon, who has been very supportive during his battle against the disease, is at the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital where he spent his last days, “the statement said.

To donate online: www.icm-institute.org, or by check payable to MCI, CHU Pitié-Salpêtrière, Bâtiment Paul Castaigne, 47-83, boulevard de l’Hôpital 75561 Paris cedex 13.
