San Luis Obispo, CA – 4th June 2010 -HTC-Columbia’s men and women simultaneously take on the top one-day American competitions at the Philadelphia International Championships and the Liberty Classic Sunday.
The HTC-Columbia men’s squad features American Craig Lewis, as well as 23-year-old Australian Matthew Goss who last month won his first stage at the Giro d’Italia . The HTC-Columbia women are led by three-time Liberty Classic winner and German National Road Champion Ina-Yoko Teutenberg, veteran American rider and winner of the 2009 Route de France Kim Anderson, as well as first-year pro and New York’s own Evelyn Stevens.
“Matt Goss, in his first year with HTC-Columbia, was instrumental in the team’s success at the Tour Down Under,” commented Sport Director Tristan Hoffman. “He is a tireless worker and teammate, and is in great form and capable of personal success like his stage win at the Giro. And Leigh Howard, who wore the leader’s jersey in the Tour of Bavaria last week, is also in top form for Philadelphia. So we have a lot of strong options.”
Teutenberg shows strong momentum following her recent three stage wins at Tour de l’Aude and a huge performance at the Tour of Chongming Island in China where she won 2 stages, the overall, and the World Cup race.
“It is great to be back in Philly for the Liberty Classic, no doubt my favorite one-day race,” claimed Sport Director Rene Wenzel. “As in years past, we will give it all plus more to bring back a great result.”
