It’s Me And My Shadow For Lone Wolf Landis
It’s Me And My Shadow For Lone Wolf Landis

BEND, Oregon – Disgraced cyclist Floyd Landis, who recently broke ranks with his Bahati Racing team, is riding solo in this week’s Cascade Cycling Classic.

Race officials have told Landis he cannot compete with logos on his jersey so he rode in Tuesday’s time trials with a plain single colored T-shirt.

The six-stage event features 172 competitors and the 34-year-old Landis was in 91st place after Tuesday’s ride.

This is the second consecutive year Landis has competed in the Oregon event.

Landis was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title for doping and earlier this year admitted using performance-enhancing drugs.

Landis is key figure in a US federal probe of possible doping charges against his former American cycling teammate Lance Armstrong.

Landis has alleged that doping was endemic in the US Postal team in the early 2000s, when he competed on it with seven-time Tour de France winner Armstrong.

Armstrong and others accused by Landis have denied the allegations and called into question the credibility of Landis.

Landis told reporters at the Oregon event that he has no regrets about his candid comments.

“It was about doing what was right,” Landis said. “It was about doing what allowed me to live my life OK with me. So whatever the reaction is, I hope it’s good. I hope people want to know the truth, but that wasn’t really my main concern.”

Armstrong is currently riding what he says is his last Tour de France.
