Jamis/Sutter Home Pro Cycling Team Delays Official Start of 2011 Season

Squad Mourns Death of Former Argentinean National Champion

Northvale, NJ – The Jamis/Sutter Home Pro Cycling Team will skip the Tour de San Luis and begin its 2011 season with the Vuelta de Chile. Directeur Sportif Sebastian Alexandre made the announcement.

“Our athletes and staff mourn the untimely death of Armando Borrajo, elder brother of our teammates Alejandro and Anibal Borrajo,” said Alexandre. “Out of respect for Alejandro, Anibal, and their entire family, we will not race the Tour de San Luis, traditionally the first event on our calendar, and will open the season with the Vuelta de Chile.”

Armando Borrajo, 34, the 2006 Argentinean National Road Champion, died earlier this month. Details of his death are under investigation.

The 10-day Vuelta de Chile begins January 27th and concludes February 6th. The roster will be announced in mid January.
