[26.01 13:23] Jaroslaw Marycz was born and raised in Koszalin, Poland and now lives in Wroclaw where he enjoys the time home with his girlfriend, Milena before taking on the race season. He has a countless number of national time trial championships on his CV but his talents go beyond the race against the clock:

“In 2009, I was so close to becoming European champion in the road race, I could almost taste the victory. Being caught on the finish line is not a joke for any rider but to lose a championship like that is just frustrating. But only one sprinter passed me before the finish line so I didn’t leave the race emptyhanded”, he says shrugging his shoulders.

Being the youngest of four kids, Jaroslaw is used to compete to get ahead. After ground school, he went to a high school for talented bike riders only. Sponsored by the government, he had a chance of focusing on his biggest talent, cycling:

“Only to of us got a contract after high school and we were fifty riders on the school. Last year, I was stagiare at Team Tinkoff but the professionalism on Team Saxo Bank beats everything I have experienced. Every rider and staff member knows their job and they do it well. The training camp was a very good experience. We really got to know each other which is important before we have to cooperate on the road. I am feeling very well at home here. Besides, I think it’s the best team on the world and I am honored to be a part of it”.

Obviously, 22-year-old Jaroslaw has a wide range of talents on the bike which makes him compatible in a number of different races. However, he has been dreaming of some of the biggest:

“I always loved to watch the Spring Classics and it would be a dream come true to be in races like Fleche Wallone, Paris-Roubaix and Liege-Bastogne-Liege where I think my skills could be a great help for the team to succeed in the Spring”, he concludes.

Jaroslaw Marycz will take on his first race for Team Saxo Bank in Challenge Mallorca.
