Today, the international cycling peloton took on the 190 kilometer long Belgian race, GP Le Samyn which remained an exiting duel between attacking riders and the chasing pack until the last kilometers of the race.
But the strong headwind made it impossible for the breakaway riders to fulfill their mission and the race were to be decided in a bunch sprint, Here, Jens Keukeleire (Cofidis) surprisingly took the win.
Bicycle.net was able to get some quotes from Team Saxo Bank which played an active part throughout the race:
“Alex Rasmussen is showing great form and he is in the first break with four other riders but they are caught with 50 kilometers to go. Then, Jaroslaw (Marycz) is off in a new break but it comes to a sprint showdown where we are putting Jonas (Aaen Jørgensen) in a good position and he takes home seventh place. Today’s Team Saxo Bank line-up is a delegation of relatively new riders on the team but they are showing the right spirit and are working very well together and that gives me and the riders reason to believe in good results in the future,” says Dan Frost after the race.
