Juan José Haedo Won Final Stage Of Volta A Catalunya

[28.03 14:01] The seventh, final and 117 kilometer long stage of Volta a Catalunya ended in a bunch sprint where Juan José Haedo demonstrated his great talent and simply confirmed the breadth of Team Saxo Bank by forcing his bike across the finish line to victory number five this week with five different riders.

Jens Voigt, Matti Breschel, Fabian Cancellara, Alex Rasmussen and Juan José have all won races this week.

”It was a perfect day for us with a perfect finish. Unfortunately, there was a crash in the peloton only 1½ kilometers from the finish line but both Haedo-brothers were well-placed behind three Milram-guys and on the final few hundred meters, JJ is simply the fastest of the bunch. It has been a really good week for us. We have celebrated two stage victories and one second place. I am confident that the riders will now feel the much more comfortable and relaxed in the races to come”, ends sports director Dan Frost after the traditional podium ceremony.

Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) won Volta a Catalunya overall.
