Kazakh Riders Arrested On Doping Charges

STRASBOURG, France, May 23, 2010 (AFP) – Two Kazakh riders were arrested on charges of smuggling and using doping products prohibited in France, judicial sources confirmed on Sunday.

The duo were on their way to take part on the Tour of Franche-Comte cycling race Friday when they were stopped by border police in the Jura and their cars and doping products, which are authorised in some countries but not in France, were seized.

They were arrested and a search carried out at their residence in Isere, south eastern France, judicial sources added. They were later released.
