Kristoff Third, Hincapie Crashes At Stage 1 At Tour of California

Alexander Kristoff of the BMC Racing Team finished third on Stage 1 of the Amgen Tour of California to earn the Best Young Rider jersey Sunday while teammate George Hincapie crashed in the dash to the line.

Landed On Back And Head
Hincapie landed on his back and head, leaving him sore but with minimal road rash. “Tom Boonen went down and I rode over his bike,” the U.S. national champion said. “I’m disappointed because I had good legs.” Earlier, the BMC Racing Team’s Chad Beyer was part of a four-man breakaway that was away for more than 112 kilometers, but caught 20 km from the finish.
