The first hunt of day one of the six-day race in Ballerup Super Arena, Copenhagen was no parade as it was decided after one hour of breathtaking pace. Team Saxo Bank’s favorites, Michael Mørkøv and Alex Rasmussen demonstrated great power throughout the night , and Michael Mørkøv convincingly took the sprint ahead of the Swiss legend, Bruno Risi who will be doing his very last race on Tuesday when the six-day race is over.

Team Saxo Bank’s world champions showed no signs of weakness throughout the night and they are now leading the six-day race on home ground giving the crowd what they came for.
The Dutch couple, Danny Stam/Peter Schep took second place in front of Bruno Risi and Franco Marvulli.

“The atmosphere in Copenhagen was ecstatic tonight and the support was extremely motivating. The race started out in a very tough opening but we were in control of the situation which we made clear to our rivals and that was important to us. Although the Swiss are one lap behind, I still consider them as our biggest rivals before Tuesday’s finale. Bruno Risi has over the past several years been the best six-day race cyclist and I have the feeling he intends to end his career at the very top,” states Michael Mørkøv after day one in Copenhagen.
